There are three types of singles you encounter on dating apps. The first type follows the traditional route to a date. It usually starts with a swipe right followed by a match, a few days of chatting, exchanging phone numbers and some more texting. If all goes well and neither of them drops out, they decide to meet up for a date.
The second type follows almost the same path, but always finds a reason to drop out. Although this type is online on the dating apps, it never leads to a physical meeting. And then we come to the third type, the type we are going to talk about today.
The third type has no time to lose. For this single it also starts with a swipe to the right, but then it goes faster. This single exchanges a few messages and then quickly plans a date. This is the type that is suitable for the ‘zero date’.

The zero date is the fastest way to see if there is chemistry with someone you met online. It is a foretaste of a first date – it is a test. The zero date is therefore a kind of low-threshold screening. Is the online click also there in real life?
Zero dates are informal and non-committal. They don’t last hours, but minutes – as long as it’s long enough to get a first impression of someone. Whether the date takes place right after work or on a Saturday afternoon: a short meeting is enough, for example a cup of coffee or getting an ice cream together. These dates usually don’t take place in places where ‘normal’ first dates take place, such as restaurants, cinemas and cafés.

In the end, you often only know who you are dealing with when you are face to face with the other person. Because even if you exchange messages and share photos for weeks, you can miss some aspects of the personality. And if you only find out after you have already invested a month of your time, then the zero date would have been a better alternative.
