Tod’s creative director Matteo Tamburini took viewers on a Mediterranean journey at the spring 2025 show, with a mood board that included images of Italian summer landscapes by photographer Luigi Ghirri, regatta shots by Carlo Borlenghi, and primitive Cycladic sculptures. Tamburini shared his inspiration on social media, including a photo from an old editorial featuring an elegant, minimalist dress, captioned “simplicity and bold design can still enchant.” That clarity of purpose is very much part of the approach to creative direction he’s brought to Tod’s .
The brand’s commitment to craftsmanship was on display as Tod’s artisans demonstrated how the Gommino studded moccasins from the new collection were made in front of guests. To further celebrate the team’s work and the brand’s fatto a mano (“hand-made”) reputation, a sculpture by artist Lorenzo Quinn depicting two giant hands holding a ribbon was on display on the catwalk.

Tamburini, who was previously the head designer of Bottega Veneta , did not place emphasis on original design, paying particular attention to plastic forms and dynamic volumes.

The archetypal sculptural restraint of Cycladic statues was reflected in simple, casual silhouettes that were nevertheless highly expressive.

Tamburini demonstrated an unconditional mastery of working with leather – on the catwalk there were long pleated dresses, biker jackets, anoraks, tops, skirts and trousers of such a flexible texture that sometimes it was hard to believe that it was made of leather.

Notice the inside-out checked shirts with intricate flowing edges; dress hems attached with rings to belts or fixed at the neck; halterneck scarf tops; lightweight striped “towel dresses”; and cycling shorts paired with jackets and hip scarves.

Among the accessories, I singled out leather pendants in the form of lipstick cases; diamond-shaped bags – made of solid leather and with slits, reminiscent of baskets; and the same rings that adorned the dresses, but as decoration on bracelets and moccasins. I absolutely fell in love with the palette: from bottle green and chocolate to shades of daffodil, butter and noble burgundy.
