In the past we regularly ate potatoes differently at home. A potato dish in a delicious creamy sauce. So I decided to recreate this myself and that was very successful with this recipe.

For 4 people
- 800 g potato slices (pre-cooked)
- 150 g bacon (vegetarian) (Garden Gourmet)
- 2 red onions (finely chopped)
- 1 red pepper (cut into strips)
- 100 g grated cheese
- 30 g butter
- 30 g flour
- 400 ml milk
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon rosemary
- 1 teaspoon paprika powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease an oven dish.
- Fry the bacon crispy in a frying pan and scoop it out of the pan onto a plate. Fry the red onion and bell pepper in the same pan until soft, and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat and add the flour. Stir well until it forms a smooth mixture (roux). Then slowly pour in the milk and keep stirring well to prevent lumps.

- Mix the potato slices, fried bacon, onion and pepper well and spoon this mixture into the greased oven dish.
- Pour the sauce evenly over the potato mixture, making sure everything is well covered, sprinkle with the grated cheese.
- Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and melted.
- Storage tip: let the casserole cool completely and store covered in the refrigerator. You can reheat it in the oven or microwave.
