Khaite creative director Katherine Holstein has always tried to define how style-conscious business women want to look: sophisticated, yes, but more brutal than feminine. However, for the spring 2025 collection, the designer stepped out of her comfort zone and showed a softer, more feminine side.
“I feel a little more grounded now. Maybe it’s because of my son and the warmth I get from him.”
It wasn’t obvious from the start—the show opened with a cropped, oversized black jacket worn over flowing organza trousers.

But from the very next look, it was clear that Holstein was eager to try something new, whether it was an hourglass silhouette, knitted peplum tops and skirts, or naive crochet dresses.

The experiment continued with apron blouses, narrow knitted skirts worn over transparent trousers, and airy organza tubes, from which everything was woven – from small tops to dresses for special occasions.

Even with the most familiar oversized silhouettes, the designer created images that were obviously uncomfortable for her style – she mixed double-breasted coats with knitted skirts, wore leather jackets with transparent trousers and puffy blouses, and astrakhan mini-dresses with brutal leather jackets.
“It’s not my comfort zone, but I wanted to take a risk and make myself even more uncomfortable.”

Perhaps not all of the designer’s experiments were successful, and critics will find reasons to criticize her, for example, for disproportions. However, this is their job. But this is not scary, because there were also discoveries: for example, a combined dress made of tweed and organza, stylized with transparent trousers, a black trouser set paired with a luxurious satin trench coat in champagne color or a red fitted suit.

Personally, I noticed the weightless images, in which one layer was superimposed on another, creating silhouettes similar to airy clouds. They sounded quiet tenderness, which this brand had not had before.
