For her spring/summer show, Isabel Marant immersed herself in the atmosphere of the early 1980s and created a relaxed collection, masterfully juggling three favorite styles: ethnic, boho and country.
Intricate weaves and embroidery on bright silk dresses, leather shorts and skirts with rivets, a multitude of suede items decorated with fringe: all of this, in addition to visual pleasure, should, according to the designer’s idea, meet the main criterion – convenience and comfort.

It was an ambitious, handcrafted collection: “I wanted to go back to our roots, to create something truly artisanal. It’s about a tribe of strong women, so I wanted it to have an Amazonian feel.”
Maran’s Amazons wear overalls, beaded blouses, leather trouser suits and suede vests on bare skin.

At the same time, they are not alien to femininity, emphasized on the catwalk by sensual knitted floor-length dresses; outfits made from fabric fragments fastened with silver beads similar to pearls or metal rings; and long translucent tunics.

The collection’s palette included shades of caramel, lilac, pink, chocolate and burgundy: “They were soft and warm, almost like sunsets.” And the silk embroidery was inspired by South American butterflies: “Butterfly wings have this velvety texture that we were going for.”

The models carried cross-body bags and roomy totes, their necks were adorned with ethnic necklaces, and their hands and forearms were adorned with massive gold bracelets. All the shoes — moccasins, suede boots with tassels, and Greek sandals — were flat: “We wanted the girls to feel freer. No one has worn heels for a long time.”
