First dates can be nerve-wracking. Even if you’re excited to finally meet the other person, the nerves can make it hard to think clearly. You know you need to prepare for the date. But how? You suddenly forget because of all the pressure.
We’ve put together a list of things to think about when going on a date. Chances are, you probably won’t need to do everything on this list, and that’s okay. Think of this checklist more as a guideline of things that are helpful to think about. Even if it’s just to remind you so you don’t forget anything. How you look
Everyone wants to look their best on a first date. You only get one chance to make a first impression. From the moment the other person sees you, they are judging you and forming an opinion about you. Here’s what you should do pre-date regarding your appearance.

Clothing
I chose an outfit.The outfit fits the date idea and the location.The outfit I chose has been washed (and ironed).The shoes I’m going to wear are clean.I feel comfortable in the clothes I am going to wear.
Hygiene
I took a shower before the date.I smell good when I leave.I brushed my teeth (and tongue) before the date.I clipped my nails the day before the date (no sharp edges).I shaved the body hair that was supposed to be shaved.I have removed nose and ear hair (men).I’ve been thinking about the makeup (women).I know what I’m going to do with my hair.I’ll bring some mints/chewing gum with me to the date.

Date preparation
Preparation is everything when you are going to do something where it is still unknown how it will go. But the better you are prepared, the calmer you will feel and the more likely you are to be yourself. With this checklist you will take away some of the nerves and you can prepare for the date as it should be.
Location
I checked if the date location is open.I looked at what the weather would be like.I know the way to the date location.I know what time I have to leave.I have taken possible delays into account.I have already filled up with gas or bought a public transport ticket.I looked where I can park.I have reserved.I looked at the menu on the website (in case of food).I have arranged alternative transportation in case I go drinking.I looked up the taxi number.I have a backup plan in case the date location is unavailable.I have a transition plan for a successful date (for example, walking around the neighborhood afterwards).

Safety
I’ve been doing some research on who I’m going to date.I’m not completely alone with my date at the location.I have informed a friend with whom, where and at what time I have the date.I check in with this friend when I arrive and leave the date.I will arrange my own transportation to the date location.I know what the red flags are to look out for.I thought about my safety during the date .I’m not going to get drunk on the date.I’ve been thinking about my limits.I have a condom with me.I have fully charged my phone.

Date
I have arranged a babysitter (in case of children).I’ve eaten enough to be able to go without for a while.I have my wallet with me (including my debit card).I have sufficient funds in my checking account.I’ve been thinking about what I want to know.I put my phone on silent before the date.I’ve come up with some interesting questions .I’ve been thinking about the closing (shaking hands, hug, kiss on the cheek, kissing).I cleaned my house (in case of a home date).I cleaned up the bedroom and bathroom (in case of escalation).I changed my bed linen.
