The childlike sense of wonder that Bottega Veneta ‘s Mathieu Blasi spoke of backstage at his spring 2025 show was on full display in this resort collection.
“I read a lot of books about elegance, about how to look right. And I realized that there are a lot of parallels between the pleasure of cooking and the pleasure of creating a silhouette. This season, I really wanted to embody a purely epicurean approach. I just took everything that I liked. It’s like in Italian cuisine: when the ingredients are good, you don’t have to fiddle with them too much.”
So, the Bottega Veneta cruise collection features Italian cuisine prepared with just a few key ingredients: perfectly tailored trench coats and jumpsuits, full skirts and dresses in the New Look style , and python-skin accessories.

The seriousness of double-breasted suits was diluted by protruding collars of blouses, ascetic dresses made of crushed cotton were decorated with leather Panama hats, strict leather vests were softened by python skin boots, and long knitted black and white dresses were complemented by bright shoes with a giraffe print.

Originality prevailed over consistency, although there were also recurring themes, such as pieces created using the unique weaving technique intrecciato (Italian for “woven”). The distinctive feature of intrecciato is the interweaving of thin leather strips that form a diamond pattern.

I also noticed the designer’s masterful work with prints: Blazier creates a harmonious alliance between checks and stripes, floral patterns and scaly skin, and also integrates 4 different patterns into one image: checks, python, abstract flowers and fine stripes.

For myself, I noted the suede total look, hobo bags made from silk scarves, shaggy shoes, an aesthetic stylization of a leopard skirt, bags with a snake-shaped handle, and a pair of heeled sandals with a red apple, just like from Pushkin’s fairy tales.
