Alberto Caliri was appointed creative director of Missoni following the departure of Filippo Grazioli in October 2024. Caliri has actually been with Missoni since 1998, starting out as a fabric designer and becoming Angela Missoni’s right-hand woman. In 2021, he briefly took over as interim creative director and designed two collections before moving on to lead Missoni Home . Now, Caliri is officially at the helm of a label he knows like the back of his hand.

Despite his deep understanding of the brand, Caliri’s approach to Missoni’s heritage is largely intuitive. He admitted that he has never studied the archives analytically, but he knows a lot about the technical aspects of knitting.
“Missoni’s sense of colour has a richness and depth that I want to revive.”
While working on the Pre-Fall 2025 collection , Alberto did have to delve into the archives, where he discovered that Missoni’s colours are actually darker and not as bright, and in addition to the iconic zigzag, there are a lot of stripes and tartans, which he described as “quite complex”.

This collection is more practical and versatile, with a sense of lightness and Missoni’s unique visual effects . Caliri’s signature zigzag is tactfully applied to trouser suits, knitted vests, cardigans and silk pyjamas.

Particularly attractive were the evening dresses: sensual slip dresses in soft striped lurex that emphasize the figure, as well as pleated dresses that can be worn with the ease of luxurious pyjamas.

It is too early to analyze and dissect Caliri’s first attempts, but one thing is already clear: his desire to balance practicality with artistic flair could attract a younger audience and increase Missoni’s popularity in the market.
