Imitation sable fur, shaggy suede, smooth satin and unusual textures – in the fall-winter 2024/2025 season, fashion brands offer a new look at old materials. In this review, I have collected for you the 7 main textures of this winter and I am ready to bet that next season they will only change places in the hit parade, but will not leave it. I will start in ascending order from 7th place.
7th place – non-trivial textures
Things with unusual textures can become the icing on the cake of your wardrobe this winter. Get inspired by the examples in the gallery: the Carven skirt , similar to a green lawn, Stella McCartney jeans , reminiscent of a mermaid’s tail, or the Alexander McQueen top , as shaggy as an unshorn sheep.

6th place – velvet
One of the most luxurious materials is conquering the world again. The glamorous 90s, which designers never tire of quoting today, and the royal baroque style, which has been so relevant lately, are to blame. Be that as it may, let’s take a closer look at velvet trouser suits, like those of Emporio Armani, Eudon Choi and Balmain , warm jackets with fur collars, like those of Luisa Spagnoli , royal coats, like those of Dolce & Gabbana and Max Mara , and, of course, velvet evening dresses, like those of Gucci, Schiaparelli and Giambattista Valli .
Schiaparelli
5th place – suede
Designers began timid experiments with the most capricious skin type a couple of seasons ago with traditional brown shades and they were right! Fashionistas happily picked up the trend, and couturiers became much bolder. Jacquemus offered skirts made of turquoise-blue and pink suede, Bottega Veneta – of olive, Max Mara presented a jumpsuit in the shade of butter, and Alaïa – high boots in deep blue. Miu Miu literally sewed everything from outerwear, trousers, skirts, shirts and accessories from aged suede.

4th place – atlas
Satin silk used to be considered an exclusively summer fabric. But we’ve long since learned to mix light textures with thick and warm ones, and integrated flowing satin into our winter wardrobes. In addition to the obvious slip dresses, like those at Michael Kors and Gabriela Hearst , pay attention to coats and trench coats, like those at Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch and Christian Siriano , trouser two-pieces, like those at Erdem and Ferrari , and bright bombers, like those at Dries Van Noten . As a minimalist, I give my vote to the look of a long satin skirt and a cable-knit sweater in beige at Ralph Lauren .
Ralph Lauren
3rd place – fur or its imitation
Imitation sable fur, like Simone Rocha, Balmain and Miu Miu , or fox, like Puppets and Puppets , or maybe a luxurious leopard coat, like Dolce & Gabbana , it doesn’t matter – the main thing is to get a fur coat for the cold season. Moreover, the louder your fur product will declare itself with its impressiveness, fluffiness and gloss, the better.

2nd place – cashmere
One of the highest quality and most comfortable materials has a wide range of possibilities – not only sewing products are good from it, but also knitted ones. And even the most modest amount of cashmere in the composition gives the product a noble tenderness and increased wear resistance. So, I advise you to pay attention to sweaters and cardigans with the addition of cashmere, like LESEL and Brunello Cucinelli , jackets, like Saint Laurent , and, of course, cashmere coats, like Max Mara, Ralph Lauren and Loro Piana .
LESEL
1st place – leather
It is simply impossible to stop the triumph of leather items! The favorite among designers this season was colored leather of various textures: from perfectly smooth, glossy to matte with embossing. The proposed palette cannot but please: the shade of butter at Gucci and Hermès , soft blue at Bally and the same Gucci , olive at Ferragamo and Fendi , terracotta at Zimmerman and Gauchere , and red at LESEL, Ferrari and Bottega Veneta .

Alright, let’s cut to the chase: winter fashion is officially not playing it safe this year. From that wild green “lawn” skirt to leather so buttery you’ll wanna lick it (don’t), this season’s textures are basically screaming, “BOREDOM NOT ALLOWED.” Sure, velvet’s back to haunt your inner ’90s diva, and cashmere’s still that rich auntie staple we’ll never quit—but honestly?
I’m obsessed. Whether you’re team “mermaid jeans” or ready to swan around in satin like it’s your personal red carpet, one thing’s clear: these textures aren’t going anywhere. They’ll just keep swapping spots like they’re playing musical chairs at a fashion week afterparty.
So, spill it—which texture are you stealing for your winter wardrobe? The shaggy sheep vibes? That too glossy leather? Or are you going full luxe villain in velvet? Drop your thoughts below, throw a like if this sparked some inspo, and hit subscribe so you never miss the drama. Winter’s coming—dress like you’re here to win it.
