Chemena Kamali’s second collection for the brand (like her first) was based on her deep understanding of Chloé’s history . But the fall debut was so successful that Chemena risked not living up to the critics’ high expectations a second time. Still, the designer seemed to have no self-doubt.
The collection was a consistent continuation of the previous one, with a new dive into the archives. It featured high-waisted flared jeans (which Chemena herself loves), reminiscent of Phoebe Philo’s work at the brand, and a pink flamingo swimsuit, emphasizing the boldness of the Stella McCartney era.

The designer’s moodboard featured two photographs of models by Karl Lagerfeld, who repeatedly headed the brand and set the aesthetics of the late ’70s: high-waisted trousers from the spring 1977 collection and lace bloomers from the spring 1978 collection. Kamali’s version sounded more gentle, with a hint not so much of her beloved boho, but of lingerie style.

Transparent, weightless dresses, which in real life are supposed to be worn over a bodysuit or slip, were shown separately on the catwalk. There was also a lingerie line of the same bodysuits with puff sleeves and floral swimsuits decorated with chain belts.

The collection featured a lot of airy lace, crochet, lush frills and delicate flowing fabrics, sometimes mixed in contrast with durable cotton, suede and leather.

Kamali couldn’t ignore the theme of sports, which is now present in almost every collection. Chloè’s sporty girls choose swimsuits with ruffles or floral prints, and pair their overalls and cycling shorts with cropped jackets with puff sleeves.

Freshness and lightness are what make Chloé what it is, and Chemena Kamali has succeeded in both. Fashion experts are already predicting incredible success for combinations with lace inserts, multi-layered dresses made of lace, and chiffon dresses with delicate flower-bouquet prints, short in the front and long in the back. For those who love the boho style, wearing these is a dream come true!

I noticed small shell bags, including belt bags, hung with keychains and chains; the same bags in mesh string bags, as if they had just been fished out of the sea; single earrings and pendants in the shape of the same shells; jelly sandals with a small heel or on a platform covered with inscriptions and drawings.
