Creative director Matthieu Blasi certainly knows how to put on a great show. Guests at the Bottega Veneta spring 2025 show sat on large leather animal-shaped poufs that immediately put them in a cheerful mood. It was as if they were kids again, waiting for their favorite TV show.
By the way, the poufs were reimagined especially for the show by the Italian brand Zanotta , and they can already be purchased on the BV website.

The concept of the show was childhood: “I was interested in the idea of ‘wow’ and the surprise you experience as a child when you try on your parents’ clothes.”
Hence the collection’s second-hand jackets and single-leg trousers under asymmetrical wrap-around skirts.

The grown-up Blasi children wear crinkled trench coats (two at a time), “serious” leather coats with multi-layered collars, bombers and checkered shirt jackets. And of course, like all adults, they always and everywhere carry supermarket bags (BV’s were made of leather and silk fabric).

By choosing childhood as the starting point for the collection, Blazey was counting on people sharing his sense of humor and irony. He explained that the animal-shaped poufs were inspired by the film E.T., in which the main character’s mother opens a closet and somehow doesn’t notice an alien hiding among a multitude of soft toys. This theme was reflected in the clothes: funny frogs sitting on the neckline of a dress and clinging to shoes, they are also in the form of buckles on leather belts, lapels of leather coats and jackets in the shape of rabbits, a scarf-vest with a print of a giant fish.

Continuing to be creatively mischievous, the designer made wigs and super long scarves from his signature leather fringe.

But let’s not forget that BV is a serious brand, and the catwalk featured looks that Blasi pulls off like no one else – simple, yet incredibly luxurious: a bright yellow jersey dress with draping; a snow-white dress with three-quarter sleeves, strewn with fringe; shiny or skillfully draped floor-length dresses with complex abstract prints; midi dresses made from thousands of multi-colored sequins; asymmetrical skirts and leather shirts with three-quarter sleeves.

In two and a half years of working for the brand, Blazey managed to make Bottega Veneta “younger”, brighter and more ironic. He loves conceptuality, but at the same time does not forget about functionality; loves experiments, but not momentary shock value; successfully works with the brand’s archives, but does not dissolve in them.
