7 Key Components of a Fun Office (and Other) Look

The holiday season is over, and it’s time to update your business wardrobe. Moreover, the trends of the latest seasons indicate that now it is not at all necessary to go to the office to look like a business lady. The new officecore does not require a strict dress code from us: jackets, skirts and trousers allow asymmetrical details and light deconstruction, a blouse can be “frivolous” with ruffles and flounces, and a hairstyle can be complemented by fashionable accessories in the form of hairpins-bows, pearl hairpins or headbands with decor.

In this review, I have collected for you 7 main components of a fashionable and interesting wardrobe in the officecore style.

Oversized jackets have long been a classic of business and casual wardrobe. But if you are a little tired of them, then there is good news! This season, the most fashionable will be very fitted models, like Givenchy, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta and others; as well as cropped jackets to fit the figure, like The Row, Oscar de La Renta, High Sport and Lena Hoschek .

The vest plays an important role in a business “designer” – it can be worn on the naked body, on a blouse, under a jacket or cardigan. This season, in addition to the obvious suit models, pay attention to vests of unusual design solutions, such as LESEL, Alaïa, Bottega Veneta and other brands.

Trousers

Classic straight or wide trousers with pleats at the waist, like LESEL, Moschino and Proenza Schouler , are the basis of a business look. But if we are talking about a fun office look, then this season I recommend focusing on slightly flared trousers, like Victoria Beckham and The Row ; or on cropped models that reveal the ankle, like Bite Studios, High Sport, Rosetta Getty and The Garment . The latter are also an ideal solution for our slushy autumn.

The traditional office pencil skirt is unexpectedly taking a rest this season. This is what designers decided and offered to replace it with straight and long skirts, which can be made from classic suit fabrics, like Elie Saab, The Row, LESEL and Wardrobe NYC ; and from knitwear, like Balenciaga   and Bear Park . The knitted Moschino skirt, gray in the front and beige in the back, is worth noting .

I won’t write about the classic shirt in this review — this choice is obvious for the office. But to create a fashionable business look, you can safely experiment with different blouse models — from weightless ones with ruffles and bows, like Laquan Smith and Carla Zampatti , to satin ones, like Bear Park ; and shirts with slits on the sleeves, like Bottega Veneta . My favorite in this section is the LESEL blouse with a soft frill on the back, turning into a sleeve.

Who would have thought that a suit would become not only a uniform for the office, but also universal clothing for every day. The ideal option for the early off-season is a duet of a jacket and ultra-fashionable Bermuda shorts, like Bottega Veneta . However, you can wear it at lower temperatures, complementing the look with tights and boots. In addition, I advise you to pay attention to suits with a slight deconstruction, like Del Core and Maison Margiela ; interesting two-pieces with decor, like Paco Rabanne and Des Phemmes ; in bright colors, like Stine Goya and Safiyaa ; or in delicate pastel shades, while it is still warm, like Dries Van Noten and The Frankie Shop .
