The best strategies people use
To find out the answers, the researchers conducted a combination of qualitative and quantitative research, using open-ended questionnaires and surveys. With this research they were able to identify 81 different actions that people use to improve their relationships. These actions were later divided into 14 broader strategies.
The research found that understanding your partner’s needs, discussing problems and showing more interest in your partner are the most popular strategies people use to improve their relationship. And apparently this is a smart choice, because these are also effective strategies to improve the relationship , according to the research.
Understanding your partner’s needs
An important strategy mentioned is trying to understand your partner’s needs . This is not just about physical needs, but also about emotional and psychological needs. If you know what your partner needs, you can take them into account and help your partner feel understood and appreciated.

Discussing problems
Another important aspect of a good relationship, and an opportunity to improve the relationship, is the ability to discuss problems and work together toward a solution. Discussing issues can be difficult, especially when emotions are running high , but being open and honest about what’s bothering you is beneficial to the relationship. Try to listen to your partner’s opinion and try to find a solution together that works for both of you.

To show interest
A third strategy that emerged from the research is showing interest in your partner. This means not only asking questions about your partner’s daily activities, but also showing interest in his or her hobbies and interests.
