Stand up for yourself because no one else will. No one else will defend you if someone treats you unfairly. No one can defend you as well as you can. No one else can protect your passions and values as much as you can. No one has that power, only you have that control. Only you can determine how others treat you.
Stand up for yourself because it teaches people how to treat you. You set the boundary. You teach people what you will and will not accept. You don’t have to stay silent when someone hurts or shames you.

Stand up for yourself because it is your right as a human being. You’re not mean or immature if you stand up for yourself. You don’t have to be above everything. It is not a crime to stand up for yourself, to let people know they have hurt you, or to walk away from people who offend you. It is not a crime to remember how much you are worth. It is your right to stop doing things you will not tolerate.
Stand up for yourself because you need this. You need it when your values are questioned, when people accuse you of things you didn’t do, when people are rude and condescending just because they can. You need it when people try to bring you down, when they try to break you, and when they try to make you feel like a failure. You need it when you want to give the feeling that you are not good enough.
