Do you have a great relationship with your partner, but does it sometimes feel a bit suffocating ? Would you like to have a little more space? Or do you feel that your partner needs a little more space? If you feel like your partner (or you) wants to break away from the relationship, you may not be giving each other enough space.
Giving space is healthy
If you are in a relationship with someone, it does not mean that you no longer exist as an individual. Ideally, the relationship allows you to grow together as partners, while also remaining independent and growing individually. You enter into a relationship, but of course you also want to do your own things . And above all: remain yourself.
Maintaining your own identity is certainly possible in a good relationship. You do things together with your partner, but you also make time and space for yourself and the people you are friends with. If you are not given this space, you must be able to indicate that you need more space for yourself. This does not only apply to you, it obviously also applies to your partner.

6 signs that your partner wants more space
We have listed six signals for you that indicate that your partner wants more space. Do these apply to your partner or do they perhaps also apply to yourself and do you recognize some things in them? Then make a plan to address these issues, because that’s the best way to save your relationship .
Do you feel like your relationship feels a bit stuffy or oppressive? Or that your partner experiences this as such? Then the following signs are a clear signal of this.
1. Your partner is regularly bad-tempered
A first sign that your partner needs more space is that your loved one is grumpy for unknown reasons. For example, he or she responds curtly when you say or do something. Your partner acts distant , avoids conversations and may even be a bit hostile. If this happens frequently, ask why your partner is acting this way. Is it because of a lack of space in the relationship?

2. Your partner gets angry for unknown reasons
Does your partner get angry out of the blue? Does this happen at unexpected times? Or when, in your opinion, nothing is wrong at all? This may also indicate that your partner needs more freedom of movement. Often a little more space is sufficient and you no longer have to walk on your toes to avoid a rude response .
3. Your partner doesn’t do anything for themselves
Does your partner always agree with you when you say or do something? Handy of course, but not really normal. And does your partner want to do everything together, but nothing alone? Then it is not surprising that you feel as if you have no space. If your partner only does the same as you and follows you in everything (literally and figuratively), this can get on your nerves. And then you also need more space.
Instruct your partner to do fun things with others . This way he or she can enjoy themselves for a while and this also gives you the necessary space to recover yourself.
4. Your partner suddenly does a lot without you
If your partner has a lot of hobbies, then there is of course nothing wrong with that. After all, you also have your own things to do. However, it is a sign of a lack of space if your partner suddenly does everything alone or with someone else, while you are left out. This may also indicate that your sweetheart needs more space and therefore does not want to do things together with you.

5. Your partner doesn’t want to go to bed at the same time
Is your partner often away during the day because of work? Then there is a good chance that you will only have time for each other, especially in the evenings . Does your partner want to stay up a little longer than you, read a book, watch television or do something for themselves? Then that is also a sign that your lover needs some more space.
6. Your partner is stressed
Is your partner more stressed at some point than at other times? Then this could also indicate that he or she could use some extra space. For example, is it very busy at work and does your partner still have a lot of chores to do at home on his Saturday off? Then a little more space on Sunday – for example by not making appointments – can reduce stress and make everyone feel happy again.
