There is something very simple you can do to increase your child’s chances of success and health in the future, namely ensure that your child plays outside a lot. In many ways, this generation’s childhood is different from that of the previous generation, but one of the biggest differences is the time children spend outdoors. Because there is much less play outside. That is a shame because it is important that children play outside a lot. Below you will find 6 crucial reasons why it is so important for children to spend a lot of time outside:
1. Exercise
Children should be active for at least one day every day. By sending them outside, especially with something to do such as a ball, bicycle or inline skates for a child or roller skates for a child , you encourage them to play actively. And active outdoor play is the best exercise children can get.
2. Sunlight
Our bodies need sun. We know that too much sun and especially sunburn can increase the risk of skin cancer, but our bodies do need sun. We need sunlight to produce vitamin D. Vitamin D plays a major role in various processes in our body. From getting strong bones to developing the immune system. Our bodies do best when we get sunlight every day.

3. Executive functions
Executive functions are the part of the brain that gives us the skills that help us plan, prioritize, problem solve, negotiate and multitask. These skills are important elements for success. This also includes creativity and the use of our imagination. These are skills that need to be learned and to learn them, children need unstructured time outside. They need to be alone with other children to make up games, invent things and entertain themselves.
4 .Taking risks
Children sometimes have to take risks. This makes us, as parents, nervous because we want our children to be safe. But if we always keep them in a bubble and never let them take risks, they won’t know what they are capable of. And they may lack the confidence and courage to deal with life’s risks. Yes you can break your arm climbing a tree, yes you can feel small when you try to make new friends and get rejected. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. The lessons we learn through failure are just as important as the lessons we learn through success.

5. Social skills
Children need to learn how to work together. They need to learn how to make friends, how to share and cooperate, how to treat other people. If they are only together in a structured setting such as at school or during sports, they will never be able to learn everything they need to learn.
6. Appreciating nature
The world is changing quickly and that is not always good. If a child grows up without ever walking in the woods, playing in the mud, seeing animals in nature, playing in the sea or a lake, they will never understand what is at stake and what may be lost. The future of our planet depends on our children, which is why it is so important that they learn to appreciate our nature.
