New season means new wardrobe items! And since the first cool days are just around the corner, it’s time to stock up on a set of versatile items that will help you welcome autumn in style.
In this review, I have collected at least 11 items to create a simple yet fashionable autumn capsule.
Just a dress
Regardless of the season, a dress is a necessary and much-loved item in a woman’s wardrobe! In anticipation of autumn, I prefer all-season models that look great with ballet flats while it’s still warm, and with boots when it gets colder. These can be knitted models, like Gabriela Hearst, Jil Sander and Toteme , flowing viscose dresses, like LESEL and Xirena , or sundresses made of thin wool jacquard, like Khaite .

Light outerwear
There’s nothing more essential in the off-season than lightweight outerwear. There are plenty of options for what you can stylishly throw over your shoulders on a chilly evening, from classic raincoats to warm cardigans. This season, pay attention to bombers, including denim and leather ones, like those at Zimmerman, Laquan Smith and Magda Butrym ; designer trench coats, like those at LESEL and Courreges ; capes, like those at The Row and Carolina Herrera ; and suede jackets, like those at Staud .

Elegant skirts
Let’s continue wearing skirts! Just put the lightweight cotton models aside until next summer and give preference to skirts made of viscose, denim or fine wool, which will fit perfectly into the first autumn looks. The most fashionable this season are trapezoidal midi lengths, like Gucci, Patou and Toteme ; and straight maxi lengths, like LESEL, Max Mara and Gabriela Hearst .

LESEL
Jeans
No capsule wardrobe is complete without denim. Basic blues like those at Banana Republic, Madewell , and Frame are timeless, as are unboiled denims like those at Closed and Dries Van Noten . LESEL, Frame, Citizens of Humanity , and Brandon Maxwell all offered raw hem jeans, while Jacquemus and Outland Denim offered white options. After all, why not extend your summer with lighter shades?

Basic (and not only) tops
No capsule collection can do without a basic top, so be sure to stock up on a couple of simple white T-shirts and vests. On the other hand, you can never have too many tops, and if you want something unconventional, you need to complement your wardrobe with a couple of cool tops. This season, we are focusing on polo shirts, like Gabriela Hearst and Eterne ; V-neck tank tops, like Bottega Veneta and Victoria Beckham ; and bright satin tops, like LESEL and Rohe . For the first cool days, I recommend knitted sleeveless turtlenecks, like Staud.

Knitwear
Knitwear is the first to rush to our aid when the cold weather sets in and stays with us until summer. If you agree with me and a simple basic sweater seems rather boring to you, then focus on the ultra-fashionable cardigans, like Totemе and Khaite ; polo models, like Proenza Schouler and Everlane ; or jumpers with a V-neck, like Maison Margiela and Leset . And if you love bright accent knitwear, then feel free to stock up on knitted items in the bright scarlet color of the season, like LESEL, The Row, Bottega Veneta, Bite Studios and La Ligne .

Trousers with a perfect fit
Perfectly fitted trousers are not just for the office. Straight-leg models, like those from LESEL, The Row, St. Agni and Veronica de Piante ; slightly flared, like those from Del Core and The Garment ; or wide-leg models, like those from Michael Kors and Posse , will become the basis of any minimalist capsule wardrobe. Until the slush sets in, you can create stylish looks with light-coloured trousers, like those from Sergio Hudson and The Frankie . All of these models are versatile and look great with ballet flats, as well as with brutal loafers or Cossack boots.

Crispy Shirt
Buttoned up or unbuttoned over a T-shirt, tucked into trousers or worn loose, the shirt knows no stylistic limitations. The standard white blouse needs no introduction – it’s the foundation of all foundations. And the most fashionable shirts this fall are bright accent ones, like those from LESEL, The Row and Stella McCartney , and striped models, like those from Bottega Veneta, The Frankie Shop and Yaitte .

Bottega Veneta
Flat shoes
The 2024/2025 season saw everything, but designers loved minimalist flats more than others. This fall, look for something light and elegant, like classic black ballet flats from Tove or loafers from Bally. If you want to create a sophisticated look with an emphasis on shoes, opt for ultra-fashionable python leather shoes, like those from Chloè and Aeyde ; suede loafers, like those from Gucci ; or bright color-blocked ones, like those from Christian Louboutin.

Chloe
Bag
I have collected for you in the gallery the most fashionable minimalist bags of this fall. What is important, besides functionality? A comfortable handle that can be adjusted and, preferably, hung on the shoulder, noble colors and an elegant shape. If you want a bag to help achieve the wow effect in the simplest outfit, then give preference to suede bags in shades of ochre or dark chocolate, like Bottega Veneta, Toteme, Brunello Cucinelli and Proenza Schouler.

Outfit additions
Well, finally, your minimalist outfit deserves a finishing touch. Here, let your inspiration run wild! It can be exquisite jewelry, cool belts, trendy bows or pearl hair clips. Wear any of these with a simple T-shirt and blue jeans, with a shirt and a skirt, with a jumper and trousers – and your stylish look is ready!
