A happy relationship often takes a lot of work. You and your partner will have to go all out to make your relationship work. Not everything is equally beautiful and almost no relationship is completely perfect, but you do everything you can to stay together. There will always be ups and downs , but if you want your relationship to work, you will have to fight for it.
However, hard work is not always good. It’s not good to keep fighting for your relationship if it isn’t worth it at all. Maybe your partner is not the one for you. But how do you know if you’re in a relationship that isn’t worth fighting for? Below we give you 8 warning signs to help you find out.
1. You don’t feel like you can trust your partner
One of the biggest signs that your relationship is not worth it anymore is when you feel like you can no longer fully trust your partner. Trust is the foundation of a healthy relationship: the foundation on which it is built. You need someone you can trust completely.
You need to feel comfortable with each other, feel safe and feel like you can trust that person with anything. If you feel like your partner is not keeping your secrets or is being unfaithful in some other way, this is a major sign not to fight for your relationship.

2. Your partner is not the first person you want to share something with
Your partner should be the first person you want to share important events in your life with. Have you passed an important exam or has something happened at work? Has something happened in your family or with friends? Then your partner should be the first person you want to tell these things to. These can be both good and bad moments.
In a healthy relationship you want to share everything immediately with your partner. Is this not the case, or do you not like sharing important moments with your partner? Then your relationship may not be quite right for you.
3. You have more arguments than good times
Arguing also occurs in healthy relationships. It is a way to express your feelings and be honest and open with each other. Arguing is of course never fun, but it doesn’t have to be a reason to break up. However, it is important to consider how often you argue now. Do you have bad moments and arguments with your partner much more often than you have fun together? Then this is probably not (anymore) a relationship worth fighting for.
In a healthy relationship you should have about 5 positive moments for 1 negative experience. If this ratio is very different, then you may be fighting for a relationship that isn’t worth it.

4. You often think about ending your relationship
Another important sign that you can tell that your relationship is no longer worth fighting for is if you often think about ending your relationship . Do you fantasize about what it would be like to be single again? Then this could be a warning. Your thoughts often mirror your feelings, so if you often think about breaking up with your partner, there is a good chance that you no longer feel comfortable.
5. You don’t have the same standards and values
In the beginning of your relationship, having the same standards and values may not seem that important. The future is still far away, and things like marriage, children, politics and religion are not really on the agenda. However, it is important to have the same views on these in a long-term relationship.
If you are not on the same page when it comes to important topics, norms and values, there is a good chance that this will lead to disagreements, frustration and arguments . You cannot simply change your mind and this can pose a major problem for the future of your relationship.

6. Your partner makes you feel bad about yourself
A major sign that you are in an unhealthy relationship is if your partner is affecting your emotional health. Does your partner make you increasingly insecure and feel bad about yourself? Then this is an important warning signal. In a happy relationship, your partner will never repeatedly try to hurt you.
You should support each other and bring out the best in each other. Do you notice that you start to doubt yourself, that everything is always your fault or that your emotional state is negatively affected in some other way? Then it might be wise to break up.
7. There is very little empathy
In a healthy relationship, you and your partner should be able to sense each other well. Your partner understands you well, listens to you and can empathize with you. If this is not the case, then this is an important point to think about. No matter what happens, your partner always seems to think the worst, does not listen to you and does not attach any value to your feelings, thoughts or desires. Of course, there may be periods when your partner may be less able to empathize, but if this has been going on for years, it is an important sign.

8. Unwanted touching
The final sign that you are fighting for a relationship that is not worth it is when your partner repeatedly touches you in a way that you do not want. This does not necessarily have to be hitting, but other types of unpleasant touching also fall under physical abuse. If this is the case, then this is a very important sign to end your relationship.
